Hi, I'm Todd — The Lawn Mower Man.
I provide outdoor property care services including lawn mowing, garden weeding, hedge trimming, and general property maintenance throughout Carterton and the wider Wairarapa.
I was born and bred in Carterton, where my parents owned the Cona Coffee Lounge — a place many locals will remember fondly. Watching my parents build a successful business from the ground up taught me the value of hard work, dedication, and looking after your customers.
Over the years, life has taken me around New Zealand, from Carterton to the Kapiti Coast, Whakatāne, and Gisborne, before eventually bringing me full circle back home to Carterton.
My partner Suzanne and I have since purchased the Wright family homestead in Clareville. Many local families will know exactly where it is — just behind the old bus shelter on SH2. Today, this is where The Lawn Mower Man is proudly based and operated from.
My passion for lawn care grew while working as a grounds caretaker at Titoki Healing Centre in Awakeri, near Whakatāne. But if I'm honest, it all started much earlier.
I can still remember pushing Dad's lawn mower around our backyard in Carterton when I was about six years old. I could barely see over the handles. Dad jokingly said, "If you want some pocket money, you'd better start it up."
The following weekend I was outside in my shorts, singlet, hat, and gumboots trying to get that mower going. Eventually it started, and before long I was mowing neighbours' lawns and earning my first pocket money. That's where it all began.
Since then, I've always believed that if you want something extra in life, you work for it. I genuinely enjoy the smell of freshly cut grass, the look of neat edges, and the satisfaction of leaving every property looking its best. Every lawn is different, but every lawn deserves the same care and attention.
After many successful years working in the IT industry, I decided it was time for a change — to work outdoors, enjoy the fresh air, and spend my days doing something I truly enjoy.
Whether it's mowing lawns, trimming hedges, tidying gardens, or helping maintain your property, I aim to provide reliable service, honest communication, and a fair price for a job well done.
